“Воля” (spelled “volia”) is a Ukrainian word that translates as freedom, will, and liberty. It symbolizes a cornerstone concept for every Ukrainian patriot, carrying multiple meanings that are special for Ukrainians.
The shape of the monument is associated with a huge cube of hellish garbage. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the territorial defense forces, and local residents resisted and “squeezed” this deadly iron. No matter how terrible this metal is, it’s always too small to break our VOLIA. Made from real shells and fragments from Irpin and Kyiv region.
The shell parts and debris used for the monument were collected from all around Irpin, Bucha, and the nearest places

From the first day, we agreed that the creation of the monument should in no way divert or attract funds from the defense of Ukraine
